On a foggy morning of May, 1895, the steel bulk carrier "Norman" was running empty, speeding north when the lumber-laden steamer "Jack" appeared out of the mist.
Too close to avoid a collision and despite panicked maneuverings at both helms, the "Jack" struck the "Norman" amidships with enough force to almost cut the huge ship in two.
Sinking in less than three minutes the "Norman" now lies in 64 metres of water, her 90 metre length an impressive sight.
