The "Ace 1" was a decommissioned LCI (Landing Craft - Infantry) built in 1944.

 

She became a fishing barge in 1948 and, after dragging her anchor in a storm and washing ashore, she was assessed as a total loss and was sunk eleven kilometres off the San Pedro/Long Beach breakwater for the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
